ACCESSIBILITY
Sensory Bridges, Inc. is committed to ensuring that sensorybridges.com and our Brooks Band self-regulation awareness tool are accessible to all people, including those with disabilities. As a company that serves neurodiverse children, we believe accessibility is a core value, not an afterthought.
We are committed to conforming to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, which became an ISO standard (ISO/IEC 40500:2025) in October 2025. WCAG 2.2 includes criteria for perceivability, operability, understandability, and robustness, with enhanced focus on cognitive and motor disability support.
We comply with Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which requires private businesses to provide full and equal access to digital services. We also align with the DOJ's April 2024 Final Rule on web accessibility (36 CFR Part 35) as a best practice standard.
While Section 508 applies to federal agencies, we align with its accessibility requirements as a best practice, particularly because our Brooks Band is used in public school settings where Title II compliance is required by April 2026.
Our website maintains sufficient color contrast ratios per WCAG standards, supports resizable text through browser settings, uses clear and legible fonts, does not rely on color alone to convey information, and includes visible focus indicators for keyboard navigation.
All website features are accessible via keyboard (Tab, Enter, Escape). Navigation follows a logical, predictable order. No keyboard traps exist — users can navigate away from any element using only the keyboard.
We use semantic HTML structure, descriptive alt text for meaningful images, labeled form fields, proper landmark regions (nav, main, footer), and correct heading hierarchy (H1–H6) for screen reader navigation.
As a company serving neurodiverse children, we pay special attention to cognitive accessibility: clear language, consistent navigation, reduced visual clutter, respect for prefers-reduced-motion settings, and ADHD-friendly time extensions where applicable.
The Brooks Band device is designed with accessibility at its core: compatible with iOS and Android voice control features, screen reader support in the companion app, adjustable haptic feedback strength, gesture alternatives for all touch-based features, and color-blind-friendly interface design.
Third-party content: Embedded content from third parties (YouTube videos, Airtable forms) may not fully meet WCAG standards. We work with providers to improve accessibility and provide alternatives upon request.
Legacy documents: Older PDFs may not be fully accessible. New documents meet WCAG 2.2 AA standards. Request accessible formats by contacting us.
Live content: Live-streamed content may lack real-time captions. We are implementing live captioning technology.
We regularly test for accessibility using automated tools (WAVE, Axe, Lighthouse), manual testing, assistive technology testing (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack), and keyboard-only navigation verification. We engage independent accessibility consultants for periodic audits.
